Works Exactly As Intended,and Saves Money If You Actually Know how to Do the Math
I’m honestly surprised at some of the negative reviews here. This filter lasts six months, gives clean water, installs in seconds, and costs about $45. I bought the 2-pack for $90, which covers an entire year.If someone is drinking 4–5 gallons of bottled water a week, they’ll spend far more than $90 in six months. The math isn’t complicated: this filter ends up being cheaper, easier, and produces zero plastic waste.Yes, GE requires their brand because of the RFID chip. It would be nice to have universal options, but even with that limitation, the cost per month comes out to around $7.50. That’s less than a single gallon of brand-name bottled water in many stores.If you want clean water, convenience, and consistency, this filter does the job. Complaining about the price while spending more on bottled water doesn’t make much sense

Yep, it costs more than 3rd party knock-off filters. But, for me, it is more than just fitting and having the ability for water to flow through before it goes into my glass. This filter is certified to comply with NSF/ANSI Standard 42, 53, 401, and NSF Protocol P473. This means that I can be confident that the water is filtered to high standards. GE does this certification because they are a big company and its reputation rests on proven performance. This is why they have an RFID chip to limit the amount of water that is filtered by each element. The chip assures the filter is replaced when the filter’s ability to filter is exhausted. This is to keep me and my family safe, not because they want to sell more filters. 3rd party filters fit, but do not have the credentials to prove they are filtering as you may think they are. I will pay more to be assured. You will get what you pay for. I chose to pay for quality.

Great filter and great service.
First time changing filter in my GE Profile French Door Refrigerator. Good job GE in the filter location design. Been replacing them for 40 years or so in other fridges. This was so simple. Easy. Prompt shipment and so much better when ordering a cheaper brand that ended up coming from China and the first six glasses I poured had a film on the surface.You will get all my future orders and nice to see made here in USA.

Works like it should…
Filter shipped quickly, was packaged well and fit perfectly. However, this is a GE rip-off. There is now an RFID chip in the filter which allows the fridge to track how long the filter has been installed. You can’t remove one of these filters and just re-install it to trick the timer. Therefore the red “replace the filter” LED blinks every time you get water forcing you to pay for a new one in order to reset it.

Great tasting water
I have had many people tell me how good the water is that comes out of my GE refrigerator. We are on a rural water association, and the water out of the faucet is not terrible, but it is not nearly as good as what comes out of the refrigerator. I even use that water in my Keurig coffee maker, and it makes the coffee better too. It is saving me money too because I am not using the bottled water now. I will never settle for anything except the water filtered by this GE filter.
